you belong here - Brian Bonilla

My parents met in that shop, my dad was working as a photographer and my mom came in for portraits. It took me a little while to realise my purpose, but when it clicked, I knew it was always supposed to be that way.
— Brian Bonilla

Raised in a photo print shop in East New York, Brian Bonilla is a Cinematographer with a romantic connection to the craft.

As a technician and operator, his reel includes feature length project The Mountain - directed by Rick Alverson and starring Jeff Goldblum, where he was mentored by Lorenzo Hagerman, Netflix limited series Dating Around, and his latest premier under the mentorship of DP Darren Joe, The Subject - directed by Lanie Zipoy starring Jason Biggs and Caleb Eberhardt - was screened as part of the Brooklyn Film Festival 2020.

Brian is passionate about the representation and empowerment of Cypress Hills, NY - the community that nurtured him, and has established a production company, specifically to amplify the reality of life in his neighbourhood.

At ONE OF, we are intentional about choosing collaborators whose core values and motivators align with our purpose, and look forward to working with Ingrained Films as we interrogate what it means to belong. This is the Otis Redding of Bed-Stuy; his voice echoes the burden of belonging in a time where history is so hard to forget.
